PDF Bookmark Editor - Browser-Based Outline Tool

PDF Bookmark Editor is a browser-based tool for adding and editing bookmarks (the outline or table of contents) in PDF files. It is written in HTML and JavaScript and runs entirely in the browser. It needs no server-side code and no database, and the PDF file is never uploaded anywhere.

Open a PDF, click the place on a page where a bookmark should point, type a title, arrange the bookmarks into levels, and save a new PDF that includes them. The original file is not changed.

What it does:

  • Opens a PDF with a button or by drag and drop
  • Reads the bookmarks that already exist in the PDF
  • Adds a bookmark at the exact vertical position you click on a page
  • Lets you rename, reorder and delete bookmarks
  • Supports multiple levels (parent and child bookmarks)
  • Saves the result as a new PDF

Package contents:

  • Two HTML files: one that loads its libraries from a CDN, and one that works from your own server using the bundled libraries
  • pdf-lib 1.17.1 (MIT License) and PDF.js 3.11.174 (Apache License 2.0), with their license texts
  • Documentation: README, usage guide and installation tutorial

Notes:

  • Works on any static web hosting. No PHP, Node.js or database is required.
  • Tested in Chrome/Chromium and Edge Aon desktop. The layout is meant for desktop and tablet screens.
  • Encrypted or damaged PDFs may not open. Very large PDFs depend on the memory of the device.
Appreciate This
Thank You!
